Kappa Kappa Gamma ~ Epsilon
Illinois Wesleyan University
Chapter Facts
Until 1870, Greek-letter Fraternities were a privilege afforded to only men, but in that same year two Greek-letter fraternities were founded for women. Kappa Kappa Gamma was one. Our Fraternity was founded at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois on October 13, 1870.
Our chapter here at IWU was founded three short years later, in 1873. It was the first sorority on the Illinois Wesleyan campus and is presently the longest running chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma nationwide. Although we had a house long before in the building presently known as Adams Hall and used to accomodate independent upperclassman students, our current house was built in 1965. This project was more than just finding a residence for us Kappas to thrive in. The house was designed and built by Kappas and Kappamen (husbands and other relatives of Kappas). Its layout was designed specifically for sorority living, and therefore, it comfortably and stylishly accomodates every Kappa on campus!
