Mission Statement: Kappa Kappa Gamma is an organization of women, which seeks for every member throughout her life bonds of friendship, mutual support, opportunities for self-growth, respect for intellectual development, and an understanding of and an allegiance to positive ethical principles.

Statistics: Kappa has 134 collegiate chapters and nearly 300 alumnae associations. More than 220,000 Kappas have been initiated since our founding in Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, on October 13, 1870 by six pioneering women. Kappa is a women's fraternity - the word "sorority" was not coined until after our founding. 

Colors & Jewel: The colors of the fraternity are dark blue and light blue, which have been described as those shades in which light and dark tones reproduce the "soft velvety blue approaching the cornflower in shade", which is also a description of the sapphire, the fraternity jewel. The sapphire is recognized as a symbol of truth, sincerity, and constancy.

Symbols: The fleur-de-lis was chosen as the fraternity flower because of it's general dignity, stateliness and grace, and because it combines the two blues of the fraternity in one flower.  Our mascot is the owl; the bird of wisdom, as well as the bird of Minerva, the Goddess of wisdom.  The golden key was selected by Kappa Kappa Gamma's founders as the official badge of our fraternity.
